MAIL!!

I got my square envelopes this weekend so 4 cards went into the mail this morning. Isnt it silly that I just love the way the extra postage looks? And for the record, square cards are unmachineable and require an extra 20 cents. And they must be at least 5 1/2 inches to mail.

Joe + Ebay = ????

Joe found Ebay.

This could potentially be a scary thought. But what's the first thing he won?

STAND AND SALUTE!!

I am so excited! It was the next cartridge on my list. Yay yay yay!!

AND just now he got Walk in my Garden!!

So have LOTS of fun on Ebay Joe!!

How to clean and re-stick your cutting mat

Michelle over at Scrappin with my bug posted a video today about how to clean and make your cutting mat sticky again! She's a mind reader!! Anyway, here's the link to the POST.

The irony!! I bought a million wet wipes for Joe and mailed them all to Iraq and all I need is a silly baby wipe to clean the mat!

Flowers!!

The flowers were made with the Beyond Birthdays cartridge and the cards were made with the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.

I have a two small complaints about the Beyond Birthdays cartridge. I consider myself a relatively smart person. But I cannot figure out the sizing to save my life! If I make a card that is 5 1/2 inches I assume I can make a "framed" word image that is 5 1/2 inches to match, to fit in the stupid hole in the card. Nope, not how it works. It has annoyed the crap out of me and I am just done with the card feature on Beyond Birthdays. But there is another reason too. The cards for each individual image are just plain cards with holes in them! I think they should have the word image attached to them, like the pictures are in the Stretch your Imagination cartridge. So I will use the Beyond Birthdays cartridge for the word images and the cool cutouts, like the flowers and balloons and the gift boxes. But I wont make another card with it. It's not worth the hassle or waste of paper.

I have a small question too. Is there any way to make the cutting mat sticky again? Can I wash it? Is there a Cricut glue stick thing I can run over it? I plan on buying another pack of them, and I have heard that a less sticky mat is good for thinner scrapbooking papers, so I will keep the old one around for that task. I was just wondering.

In a Birthday mood

Just a picture of the cartridges I have.

Joe's birthday card, well, one of Joe's birthday cards. :)

One of Joe's anniversary cards.

Just a random birthday card I was messing around with.

Another card going to Kansas as soon as I get the square envelopes.

"Going Places"

I decided to pop in the Going Places cartridge last night. Joe thinks the people look like they belong on a bathroom door, what a boy!

All of these are currently on their way to Iraq. Joe and I have been looking for a nice globe for our house. When I saw that globe on the back of the cartridge, I knew I had to make it for Joe. They are just silly cards, but they will add a little color to Joe's room in Iraq.

I have a feeling that this dog card will be making the rounds. I just love it!! The inside is yellow!

First cards off the line..

This is my little flock of flower cards. I made 5 and gave them out at work today. Yes, everyone will be subjected to my new obsession!!

Turtle Card! It's even kinda messed up, but still super cute!! And that thing with the yellow grips? Only the coolest set of tweezers on the planet! They are called Tweezer Bees, I got these at Hobby Lobby. They are great for glueing and placing small pieces. You have to press down on them so they open, and when you let up, they stay closed, holding on to the piece of paper. That's not a great discription, but hopefully you get the idea.

These were just experiments on size and pressure of the machine. I really like the leaf cut out in the background.

What says Summer like a nice ice cream cone? The cherry is freaking adorable!!

This sunflower card is by far my most favorite creation so far. I think it's going to make it's way to Kansas soon, fairly fitting since the sunflower is the state flower of Kansas.

Welcome Home Cricut!

It's HERE!!!
Yesterday was just like Christmas!! My new favorite FedEx guy brought the lovely box right after I got home from work. It comes with a cartridge, Don Juan (the name makes me giggle). And after playing around for a little bit, I made a very remedial card, since I didn't have a card cartridge. And Rigel and I ran it to the mail box so my dear friend Lucy could have a handmade card in the mail. And what was in the mail box, YES! Another cartridge, Stretch your Imagination. So we ran back home and stuck it in the machine.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon playing around, just trying out new things, and experimenting with the sizes and cutting pressure. I would like to brag that I am just a quick study, but this machine is SO EASY to use! It doesn't have the best step by step instructions, but the dork that I am spent all weekend looking at Cricut videos on YouTube so I knew my way around the machine pretty well. There are some really creative bloggers out there too. I have listed a few of them on this blog. They have such great ideas! I'm going to practice making cards. But my main goal of the Cricut is to scrapbook more.

Since I have been married to a Soldier, we have had to move fairly frequently. I wanted to document our time by scrapbooking. And my mother has been a great help in this venture. I'm not the most creative person ever. She is far more visual. But we live fairly far away now and she isn't here to help me out. But the Cricut is!! That's why I got the 'Going Places" cartridge, lots of good travel images. And the others have great images and sayings for special occasions.

And today, that same lovely FedEx man brought me 3 more boxes. (Which I have a small complaint about. What's up with the separate packaging, Wal-Mart?? Aren't we trying to conserve stuff here? One small Cricut cartridge came in a HUGE box today!! More padding than actual product. That's not cool, Wal-Mart.)
So now I have
- Beyond Birthdays
- Stretch your Imagination
- Going Places
- Don Juan (giggle)
- Speaking of Fall

I'm playing with them all and pics will come very soon! I have some very cute cards and I cant wait to post them online!

Scrapbooking Blog!

Brand new blog!!

Joe has ordered me a Cricut for our upcoming anniversary. I've always tried to be crafty, but I just dont have the best eye for it. But with all of the images the Cricut can create, I think I will be much better!

I have a stack of five scrapbooks; three of which are finished: Rigel's baby book, our wedding book, and the Kansas book. And the on-going Army book depicting Joe's career. And the blue shell that will soon become the Colorado book. I havent even started that one yet.

I am so excited to get the Cricut and get started. I want to make homemade cards too. After watching some videos on YouTube, I am even more excited to get the machine and figure out how it works.

The only downside to all of this is that the cartridges are $70 each! So I will have to look for sales.

But I plan on posting all of my creations to this blog.

Enjoy!
